Summary:

Regeneron Computational Engineering (CE) is responsible for the design, build and support of cloud-based compute platforms for the data scientists. As a Principal Bioinformatician, you will help design scalable and robust cloud bioinformatics and infrastructure solutions to meet our business needs. You will work with scientists directly to understand functional requirements, convert the requirements to technical design and then guide a team of bioinformaticians and platform engineers with implementation on cloud infrastructure

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join us to be a senior leader in the India division of Advanced Computational Engineering in the Digital Technologies & Engineering organization. You will work closely with talented life scientists, data and software engineers to design and deploy compute platforms & services. This growing compute platform has allowed researchers to study biology at unprecedented resolution yielding insights in diverse fields such as drug discovery, immunology, neuroscience, developmental and basic biology.

The role you will play includes:

• Lead and grow a team of experts in Bioinformatics and scientific platforms
• Leverage the latest technologies to improve the Regeneron compute platforms to meet the company’s computational needs.

This job might be for you if:

• Mentoring and building a rapidly growing team of experts in the fields of computational engineering, statistical computing, and high-dimensional genomic data management, and guiding the further development and expansion of the group
• Understanding computational requirements of scientific business organizations and preparing cloud-based solutions accordingly
• Architecting performant, stable bioinformatics solutions in a cloud environment
• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and carry out bioinformatics analysis using languages such as Shell, Python, and R
• Work with other bioinformaticians to enhance existing pipelines, share methodologies, and develop best practices
• Constantly looking for ways to automate business and technical processes
• Understanding of data FAIR data principles
• Staying up to date on new technologies and best practices, and constantly improving the cloud solutions
• Communicating with stakeholders at all levels
• Making hardware and software recommendations
• Deep understanding of container orchestration and workflow management platforms and frameworks
• Hands on experiences on AWS services including Parallel cluster, Lambda, API gateway, networking (VPC, subnet, security groups ...) DynamoDB, SSM, S3, FSx for Lustre, RT53, EBS, EFS, Datasync
• Work experience with scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
